Salmon is the big winner at HIFD awards

Scottish salmon was a big winner at the Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Awards ceremony, held in Inverness on October 20th.

The Scottish Salmon Company scooped a triple with the Export Award, the Innovation Award and the New Food Product Award which recognised its highly acclaimed Native Hebridean Salmon, recently introduced to the international market.The prize in the Export category reflected the company’s development of its Label Rouge product range.

Craig Anderson, Chief Executive at The Scottish Salmon Company, said: “To win three awards is a fantastic achievement. We are very proud to have been recognised for our commitment not just to provenance and innovation, but in helping to grow the impact of Scotland’s food and drink industry around the world.”

Fellow salmon farmer Loch Duart was highly commended in the Export Award, and Wester Ross Fisheries was a finalist in the Innovation Award.

Adding to Scottish salmon’s success, Salar Smokehouse, whose renowned flaky smoked salmon is sourced from Scottish producers, was named Best New Business.
