Salmon producer Loch Duart has been shortlisted as a finalist in the ‘Exporter of the Year’ category for the 2019 Insider Made in Scotland Awards. The independent business, based in Sutherland and the Uists, has increased export sales by 68% over the last two years.
The nomination comes as the company continues to invest millions of pounds in fish health and welfare, along with new boats and feeding equipment.
Alban Denton, the Managing Director of Loch Duart, said: “It’s a chance to reflect on how we’ve grown both in scale and reputation, with around 70% of our salmon being exported to over 20 countries.
“Our foreign customers love Loch Duart salmon and are particularly keen on the quality, exclusivity and provenance of the brand.”
Loch Duart are up against Subsea engineering company the Hydro Group plc. The awards take place on May 9th at the Glasgow Science Centre.
