The Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation has now responded in detail to the sector plan for the finfish aquaculture sector published in November 2018 by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).
That response can be read here.
Broadly, the SSPO is delighted SEPA proposes to give salmon farmers the support they need to grow sustainably over the long term.
The organisation believes the SEPA report should provide the framework for the salmon sector to expand carefully and gradually.
There is still a lot of work to do but the SSPO is keen to pursue this new agenda as soon as possible and to engage with the regulator to find the best way for the undoubted success story of Scottish salmon production to continue for years to come.
